Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame due to her roles in films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano was awarded an Oscar. The successful actress began her career as an actor in the theatre with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. When she was a kid, Helen Keller was her favorite character in a 5th class show. In the fifth grade, following a bout of mumps, she lost hearing in the left ear. However, she did not let it stop her from performing. As a teenager She studied acting and eventually moved in New York City. In a chance encounter she got stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart and was Hunter's first performance. She made the move into Los Angeles and tried to get films roles. For Swing Shift, she landed a role as a support. Since her time in Los Angeles, Holly Hunter has been in many films, TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
